10 Foods Which Are Great For Your Skin


I have always had good skin, good in the sense that I am not prone to acne so I have no scaring or problem areas however I have always suffered with eczema. I have combination skin, mostly dry but now that I live in Iceland my skin really suffers with the cold, dry climate and the wind certainly doesn't help. So I have become very conscious of what I can do to aid my skin and give it some much needed love. 

Alongside a bathroom cabinet filled of lotions and creams, I am trying to drink at least 2 litres of water a day and eat mindfully. Here are my top 10 food which are great for your skin:

  1. Walnuts: packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which help prevent UV damage

  2. Avocado: excellent source of vitamin E which is an antioxidant that helps the skin repair itself and stay soft and supple

  3. Salmon: omega-3 fatty acid source that not only helps with sun damage but also with inflammation

  4. Blueberries: a "superfood" - this fruit is packed with various antioxidants that help repair the skin

  5. Flax Seed: add to your smoothies, pancakes, breakfast cereal because it's full of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and antioxidants

  6. Sweet Potato: packed with beta-carotene, an important antioxidant that is close related to retinol, arguably the most effective anti-aging ingredient

  7. Chocolate: it's been said that people who eat dark chocolate regularly have better skin texture, less redness, and better skin hydration than those who don't - but I really don't like dark chocolate :(
