INDIA: Happy Onam

Today is Onam, a festival celebrated in Kerala (South India). This is the first festival where our students took it upon themselves to truly involve all staff and students in celebrating. We had traditional ethnic dress on; the men in Dhoti’s and the ladies in cream and gold Sari’s.  I was lucky enough to be kindly gifted a beautiful Sari the day before from one of my students. We were gathered in the Lecturer Room where the students from Kerala welcomed us and gave a short introduction to the festival. After, we were served delicious vegetarian traditional food on a Banana Leaf by the students, everyone sitting on the floor eating together with their hand.

It was a memorable day where everyone made a big effort to participate and celebrate. A big thank you to our brilliant students for such a great day!
