With a passion for travel and the drive to test her boundaries, Sonia has lived in the UK, Japan, India and Iceland, working within architecture and higher education. Her taste for adventure started whilst travelling in Asia and Australia. With her undergrad from De Montfort University complete and RIBA Part I work placement logged, she returned to Scotland enrolling in a RIBA Part II Post Graduate program at the Edinburgh College of Art. Sonia received an award for Academic Excellence and a one year scholarship to complete her architectural education in Japan where she studied under the architect Shinichi Ogawa. After graduating, she went on to complete her RIBA Part III chartered exams in an Edinburgh practice, working on a range of residential and commercial projects.
A global recession and a desire for a new challenge led her to India where she helped set up and run over 3 campuses for the education corporation; Raffles Design Institute. Running the BA Interior Architecture course, Sonia was promoted to acting Academic Director and wrote her first research paper (published by IIT Delhi). With strong connections in India, Sonia was welcomed into the Arts University Bournemouth where she was Head of 1st year BA Interior Architecture, making regular visits to India with the British Council and the international recruitment team.
